Top 50 Songs of 2016

Looking back at 2016, a year full of notable musical losses, but here we’ll focus on the new musical loves. Chvrches claims #1 for the second straight year (albeit in a remix the previous year). Corinne Bailey Rae, New Order, Garbage, and All Saints made welcomed returns, and we see Yellowcard’s swan song and tenor Andrea Bocelli remaking of a 1961 classic, and Kaleo proves you can still rock in 2016, all this and more.

Below is my personal list of my favorite songs on my playlist for 2016. This list no doubt bears little resemblance to charts you’ll see put out by Billboard these days. As usual, a video playlist follows…

George Michaels Passes Away (25 December 2016

Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou better known as George Michael was born 25 June 1963 in East Finchley, London, England. He rose to fame as the music duo Wham with Andrew Ridgeley. His first solo single (although billed under Wham!) was “Careless Whisper”) and officially began his solo career with the “Faith” album released in 1987.
